As you know, Fairhaven Little League is a volunteer organization. We need a lot of help to keep the program running smoothly and make improvements at the same time. In addition to the managers and coaches you see working with the players, we need the help of many others each year. If you are willing to donate some of your time, we would greatly appreciate it. In addition, if you have a special talent or skill (like being a carpenter, electrician, painter, etc…) we may be able to utilize your skills working in that capacity. We are planning several off-season projects that could use trades people and we use a lot of Field maintenance help throughout the regular season. Please consider volunteering, even is for only a limited time.

Also, please consider that most of the work that the board and the special committees undertake is done during the off-season. Planning for Fund-Raisers, uniform orders, special projects, etc… will all take place between September and March. Once the season starts everyone is consumed with ongoing league activities and special projects and improvements slow to a crawl. So if you are available through the winter to work on one of our special committees please let us know. For all of those who have done so in 2008 and prior years, thanks for your support, you really make the difference in our league.

We are also looking to form a few special committees from people outside the board to study things like the All-Star selection process, training for our players, Code of Conduct policies, etc… These groups of 6-8 people would meet once per week for about 6 weeks and come up with recommendations to the board. We hope that additional support from people outside the board will really help get thins done and we think that it will be good to solicit opinions from outside the board for reference. If you are interested in these area or would like to head up a group to review something, please let us know.

If you have any other comments or suggestions for the league feel free to e-mail any of the board members. Your input is very important to the Board of Directors when it comes time to make key decisions like who should be voted in for Manager and Coach openings, which improvement projects and fund raisers we should focus on, how All-Stars should be selected, length of season, season start and end date, umpire issues, code of conduct issues, etc…
